indo adventure - day 2: one night in tokyo
A whirlwind layover to be sure! First order of business after clearing customs and immigration, the N’EX train to Shinjuku.

Off the train, helllloooo Shinjuku!

Checked in to the ambient welcoming warmth of Onsen Ryokan Yuen Shinjuku and my tiny and efficient little room.

Shut the 5-floor stationary store down.

When asked where to find pencil lead refills for a new treasure, I was given this, and the quest began.

While I initially thought this was indicative of a floor and aisle location, turned out to be the type of refill.
——————————————- Nice night. Cool moon.

I wasn’t feeling my best and felt a cold coming on, so I stopped in at a delicious 24-hour ramen spot where I learned about the subtle art of slurp style. I couldn’t see my neighbor due to tall partitions, but I certainly did hear his slurps - staccato sets of 3-4 slurps at a time, while my other neighbor had a steady, long slurp. I imagined Staccato Slurp was well organized. And when he eventually got up to leave and I saw him, he was tidily dressed and looked how I imagined, just a bit younger.

Closed the night with an open air, roof top Onsen - a traditional Japanese hot spring bath. It felt great just to unfurl and float a bit. (No photos allowed :)
Oh sweet sleep.
