an experiment in spain - day 8: on my way home, day 1
GEOMED is rarely, if ever, in a city with an international airport. As a result, it is a multi-part trek to get there, then get back home. Today was day 1 of my journey home. I took the 8:40 train from San Sebastian to Madrid, arriving around 14:00. It was a long ride. Some nice scenery. But it was another scorcher here, and it seems they do the bare minimum AC for economy with a number of people using those hand fans I used to get at fairs. I went into the nicer train car to use the bathroom and it was about 10 degrees cooler. Fewer people too of course.
Here is a photo of part of the Madrid Chamartin station I arrived at:

My hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the train station and I was very relieved to get to my room, which is quite spacious and is probably the best AC of all the places I've stayed so far.
I didn't go out exploring today. I am quite tired and am still recovering from the pneumonia bout. So, not much exciting to share as a result.
I'm very much looking forward to getting home tomorrow!
